Why does Titus kill Lavinia when Saturninus tells him he should of done it in the first place. It would be more reasonable to go against what his enemy tells him. After Titus promises Lavinia that he will care for her and learn her thoughts, he ironically kills her. Why?
i think in someways he saw Lavinia as being already dead because tamora's sons had made her incapable of taking care of herself.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good question, Greg. And, Diali, I think your answer is correct. I guess another issue to consider is possibly Titus' age, because he is getting old and cannot care for Lavinia forever. Also, if we believe that Titus is mad, maybe his act of killing Lavinia is some misdirected sacrifice for Rome?
