Act 5

Do you feel that Titus was justified in killing Lavinia? What are your feelings?

  1. Nothing can justify killing...he killed her for personal reasons just so his name would not be in vain and stained

  2. this man they call Titus makes no sense! he cuts off his hand to in a way show gow much he loves Lavinia and also prove that he has nothing left of him and everything he did is worthless because she has no hands or tongue. He then sits there and weeps for hours because he is so sad. He feeds her and takes care of her. I go ahead and think he actually has some sort of connection and then he kills her. After all he put himself through!

  3. Yves- you are correct but we must connect Titu's personal reason to his tragic flaw.
Brianna- I'm not exactly sure I follow your comment. When/where is it stated that Titus cuts off his hand to show how much he loves Lavinia? What do you mean by "he actually has some sort of connection and then he kills her"? Connection to what or to whom? Why does Titus kill Lavinia?
Pamela- the post for ActV requires that you ask a question related to the play and the movie we will see tomorrow. Please compose a post after Wednesday's class.
