Both poems are written by a minority living in America. Both men feel like they are outsiders in a "white America". Do you feel like these men are hopeful for a good life in that kind of America?
This is a great observation and you should read Wilson A.'s post/question/comment as he address the same issue. I would say they are hopeful, as both men identify as American so maybe they do not see themselves as outsiders but are seen as such, treated as such by others?
