"Theme for English B" and "Mexicans begin jogging"

I think the characters in both of the poems seem to be stuck in the middle of two worlds in a way. one being the unfair world which is filled with separation of people of ethnicity and the other the world where they realize they are all the same oppressor and oppressed in both poem i kind of see an irony of being very different but at the same time very American by definition of what it is today.

  1. That is a very insightful observation regarding both speakers of the two poems- they are stuck between two worlds. Say a bit more about how the speakers and the instructor and the boss in respective poems are the same, oppressed and oppressors? I'm also intrigued by the idea of irony- you meant this in reference that all men are the same, regardless whether they are being oppressed or they oppress others?
