In a family, mothers are sometimes the ones taking care of the children but in the story "Night Thoughts" by Helen Simpson, it seems to be otherwise. In the story, the mother seems to be the masculine figure, she is the one who takes all the big decisions without consulting her husband and she has the power over the money while the dad is taking care of the children. Why is Ella dominating her husband?
