I think the man in the poem is very masculine. He is also an extremely romantic guy. He is very attracted to the mistress. I think the man over powers the lady with his masculinity, what do you guys think?
I agree that the speaker is masculine and romantic. And I'm very much interested in your idea of him "over power[ing]" the mistress? Do you mean his words have a powerful effect on her? Or do you mean he physically over powers her and if so, which lines illustrate this?
